Although we are known for our Santa Maria style of barbecue, our owner and chef — Steve Dougherty — has over three decades of experience and can tailor a menu to each client's unique needs. In 2008, we decided to open O'Connor's Wood Fire Grill & Bar in Orangevale, California, to allow the people of our community to dine with us every day of the week! WHAT IS SANTA MARIA BARBECUE?
Santa Maria barbecue describes meats that have been cooked over the hot coals of a red oak fire. This style of barbecue has its roots in the mid-19th century when the rancheros gathered to help each other brand their calves in the spring. The host would prepare a Spanish-style barbecue as a thank you for his vaqueros (America's first cowboys), friends, and family. The tender and flavorful meats from a Santa Maria barbecue have been named by Sunset magazine as "the best barbecue in the world," and the California Visitor's Guide raves that it is the "number one food not to miss while visiting California." To complement this fabulous barbecue style, O'Connor's has developed signature rubs and marinades that have been perfected over 30 years of catering events throughout Northern California.

Tri-tip and blue cheese sandwich, this was mine and oh so gooood! Margherita pizza, large and full of basil and tomatoes, delish. (Large enough for two!) Lastly, birthday boy had 2 meat combo. He loved the tender ribs, prime rib, garlic mashed potatoes and tri-tip chili. In ending, we also ordered three desserts: Carrot cake, Cheese cake, and Brownie Sundae. Our unanimous favorite - Brownie Sundae. Now, thinking I'd like to go today to watch the Super Bowl, eat some great grub with any icy IPA. All six of us highly recommend!
